Thank You, December 31st is an installation consisting of multiple camisoles, each concealing a smartphone within. The camisoles hang suspended from the ceiling; the smartphone screens illuminate the fabric from inside.
Text messages are visible on the screens — thank-you emails sent to clients, and the accompanying notes entered into a CRM (customer relationship management) system. The screens switch before the messages can be fully read. The camisoles were provided by women working in the sex industry; the messages are borrowed from their labor.
The date in the title — December 31st — becomes an intimation of work that continues through the night the rest of society closes.
