Okoshi Madoka's work Surface Drawing has been selected as the cover art for Aoki Jungo Shoki Sakuhin Collection (Collected Early Works of Aoki Jungo), an anthology by novelist Aoki Jungo, scheduled for publication in July 2026. Book design is by Yamamoto Hiroki + h (Inunoseka-za).
Aoki Jungo made his literary debut in 2003 with the Shinchosha Prize for New Writers, and has since received the Noma Literary Prize for New Writers and the Mishima Yukio Prize. This volume brings together his early works — long difficult to obtain — into a definitive single edition, with commentary by aesthetician Ito Asa and Yamamoto Hiroki (Inunoseka-za). The book has already attracted considerable attention ahead of its release.
We are delighted, as a gallery, that the connection to Okoshi's practice has been received in a context that crosses the boundary between visual art and literature.
